How Siamese Behavior Works
Siamese are endlessly curious, but inclined to be smart and demanding. If you want a Siamese just for his looks, think again. This is a cat who has a passion for his people and will involve himself in everything they are doing. When they are not around, he will entertain himself by turning on faucets, opening cabinets, seeking out new hideaways to frustrate anyone who might be searching for him, and watching television with clear interest. He may even be willing to walk on leash and play fetch with the same enthusiasm as a certain other four-legged animal to which he disdains being compared.
Cats and Babies
No, cats do not suck the air out of a baby; that is an old wives tale! Let's look now at how we can get your cat to accept your new baby with open paws. From your cat's point of view, a baby who shows up with no advance warning is a loud, threatening, and attention-stealing invader. It doesn't have to be this way. Babies and cats can be buddies. The key to getting a cat to accept a major jolt to her routine is soften the blow and introduce the change gradually. In the case of a new baby, you want your cat to be as used to baby stuff as she can possibly be beforehand, so that when your baby comes home, kitty is not totally shocked by this very interesting human life form.
Siamese cat training
Siamese are remarkably intelligent, energetic and love human interaction. This makes them very trainable. They're good at learning tricks especially coming when called -with the can opener! Clickers or silent whistles work well, but, just a command to come will work. We have customers that often train their Siamese to walk on a harness.
Getting your Siamese used to a leash will make trips more enjoyable and Siamese love to ride! On you (around your neck) or in the car, often trying to see out the windsheild!
We have many years insight on the Siamese and Tonkinese personality and if you have an issue or training problem please call and we will be glad to help!
Just remember, Siamese are excellent trainers themselves, and before you know it, you will be trained just like they want you to be. Pretty soon you will be typing on the computer around the reclining form of your master....
